7 of the best Wedding Make-Up Artists in Norfolk
Are you looking for wedding makeup in Norfolk? As a wedding photographer, I work with a lot of different wedding professionals and over the years, I’ve built up a good idea about some of the best make-up artists for your wedding!
Planning a wedding can be time-consuming and if you don’t have a wedding planner to do the heavy lifting, knowing how to find the best makeup artist for your wedding can be a bit of a pain. So, I’ve put together this list of some of the best wedding make-up artists in Norwich and surrounding areas, to help get you started.
If you’re not sure that you need a professional make-up artist or, if you’re wondering “What can I expect from a wedding makeup artist?”, then, you might want to start with these Top Tips for choosing a professional wedding makeup artist and come back here to add a few names to your shortlist!
The first and most important point to note is – just as not every wedding photographer will be the right fit for you, not every makeup artist is for you either! Just like your wedding photographer, make-up artists in Norfolk vary in the way they work, their level of experience and their style. I’d recommend checking out 3-4 makeup artists, whose style you like, for your wedding makeup and go from there.
I have a vested interest in recommending good make-up artists. Bad make-up, where it’s plastered on and begins to cake in the heat or, where it starts to run, is one of my worst nightmares! Yes, certain things can be corrected in Photoshop but you don’t want these things to happen to you on your wedding day. So, hiring a professional make-up artist, a make-up artist who will avoid these pitfalls is good for you and good for me! With this in mind, the list below is neither exhaustive or, definitive (or, in any particular order – other than alphabetical). This list is based on my own experience, not only of seeing stunning results from behind my camera but also, the people I am recommending here are great fun to have around on the morning of your wedding! So, if you’re wondering, “How do I choose the right makeup artist for my wedding?”, read on!
1.Amanda Steed
Amanda and team are always brilliant. Covering Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, you’re assured to have someone on board for your wedding who not only knows her stuff, when it comes to all things beauty but someone who will also be a fantastically calming influence when you start experiencing those pre-ceremony jitters! Amanda is one of the longest established professional make-up artists in this list, with more than 10 years experience in bridal hair and make-up, having set up her business after training with Samantha Chapman – one of Britain’s leading makeup artists (you know the one, off that Pixiwoo!)
You can follow Amanda on her Instagram @amanda_steed_makeup
2. Cherrie Imogen
I worked with Cherrie most recently on this wedding at the Keeper and the Dell where she did a stunning job on Rachel’s hair and make-up! She has trained at The Norwich School of Beauty gaining qualifications in Fashion, Photographic Makeup & Creative Hair Design. That’s valuable because you want a make-up artist who knows how to properly apply bridal makeup so that you not only look flawless to the naked eye but also look amazing in your wedding photos too!

3.Laura Dossett
Based out of her salon, Permanent Beauty, in the heart of Norwich, Laura has loads of experience and training under her belt. She is without a doubt one very skilled wedding beautician.
If you’re looking for a make-up artist who has had the results of her work published in glossy magazines and national newspapers, then that’s Laura! She prides herself on working with you to enhance your beauty not to, in her words, “hide it behind a thick mask of cosmetics”. If this resonates with you, then you should check her out!

4.Leanna Stibbon
I worked with Leanna several times through my 2018 wedding season and she is without doubt a star! A genuinely lovely person, she’s always smiling and does an absolutely amazing job!
Here’s a review that Lucy left for her, after we worked together at an amazing Godwick Hall wedding in the Summer! That was one crazily hot Summer’s day and Lucy’s make-up was on point from start to finish!
“Leanna did my wedding make up, along with 4 of my bridesmaids, my mum and my step mum. She did such an incredible job. It was so ridiculously hot but my make up stayed intact all day and I didn’t even top up my lipstick once! (It was red too!) Leanna was so lovely to be around, she put me at ease and made the whole experience amazing!”
Leanna is another of my faves and you should definitely add her your list! Her Instagram is over @leannastibbonmua
5.Love Moi
Always in demand, if you’re lucky enough to get a look in before Emily get’s booked up then you should seriously consider pinning her down for your date!
With regular features on popular wedding blogs, she has worked with hundreds of brides and clients. She also runs an awesome little Glitter Bar which you can see in some of these Godwick Hall wedding photos.
Always great fun, you won’t be disappointed and should definitely check her out!

6.Melissa Abel
Melissa has no end of experience when it comes to making you look fantastic on your wedding day, as well as making people shine in front of the camera.
She prides herself on her knowledge of, in her own words, “how to apply the optimum amount of makeup, ensuring my clients achieve exactly the look they would like to capture, for their treasured wedding photographs”. With insight like that, there’s no way she isn’t making this list!
I worked with Melissa, most recently, on this amazing wedding at the Halls in Norwich and this Southwood Hall wedding. Another absolute gem, you’re bound to love her work!

7.Ashley Kay Beauty
Ashley may come at the bottom of this list but she’s very definitely amongst my favourite wedding make-up artists. I always look forward to wedding prep but having Ashley on board for the morning means I look forward to it even more. Such a good laugh and her make-up game is amongst the best out there. She was my team mate at this Ely Cathedral wedding in early 2019.
Based in Norfolk, her treatment rooms are in Norwich, a stone’s throw from Norwich city centre and right next to Norwich train station. She travels throughout East Anglia as well as internationally for weddings and is also an amazing commercial and editorial make-up artist!
She describe herself as “an outgoing, quirky Texan” and she’s a damn fine make-up artist too – that’s why she’s on this list!

Ok, like I said before, it’s not an exhaustive list but it gives you a good idea of what’s out there, when it comes to finding the perfect make-up artist for you and I hope it helps with your wedding planning – good luck!
